well if it is a mil-spec, i’ll have to post the closest i have to it… which is a springfield GI. it was the model level below the Mil-Spec, as it was made to represent the original ww1/ww2 1911s that our troops carried. there are small differences in things on how it was made that only applied to the earlier 1911s
i always found this image here to be helpful when trying to tell apart the Mil-spec to the GI. hopefully it will help someone else out.
beautiful pistol @mi_parente . who makes that one?
Thank you. It’s a Citadel, early Rock Island. Threw a Hogue grip on it.
i remember seeing citadels… nice… i’ve never owned one though.
I recently inherited my grandfather’s gun collection.
Out of everything he had this .380 cal 1911 is probably the coolest. It still shoots great, although the metal blade sight leaves a lot to be desired.
The box still had the original purchase receipt dated March 1975. He paid $139.95 which makes it around $770 in today’s dollar. Not that I will ever sell this. The brand Fi Industries has an interesting history.
yeah i 've never seen an FI industries 1911… thanks for sharing it. it looks almost more like a high power with the external extractor and the way the slide is done versus standard 1911s… the grip also looks a bit odd compared to standard 1911s… so unique. i dont blame you for not wanting to sell it cause it was your grandfathers. i wouldnt sell it either for that reason.
Picked this one up earlier today. Light Weight Kimber model, sure feels good in the hand. It was also priced right. It will probably be a while longer before any range time though, carpal tunnel surgery was 6 weeks ago.
1911’s ALWAYS feel good in the hand. For all the modern pistol improvements, no other feels better and no other has a better trigger.
very nice kimber. i have a few of them. here’s one of mine… its their gold match stainless II… pretty sweet pistol, i got it in a trade that i was very happy to have done.
maybe next time ill post my other kimber.
I can’t wait to get back home to my safe, it holds a couple I’d like to share on here.
well then i cant wait for you to get back home to your safe too, cause im eager to see yours ![]()
I’ve had some health issues that have kept me down and away from my home safe. Hopefully I’ll get a full release from the Drs to go home for good soon.
I can sympathize sir… i have health issues too, and at one time didnt know if i was coming home… i got luckly and healed up enough to have some form of life, but im still fighting my cancer, and i will for the rest of my life… however long that may be. I’m only 47 (turn this saturday) and was diagnosed back when i was 43. im thankful for being healthy enough to live a good quality of life, but life isnt what it was before the cancer either though.
Anyways, I sympathize with you on health issues, and I will add you to my prayer list so that you will have a speedy healing and return to home and your usual routines.
Happy early Bday to you and praying you will have many more healthy years to enjoy.
I greatly appreciate you adding me to your prayer list and I will do the same for you. I was never very religious but I’ve seen it work first hand.
I only needed a new liver and was given 6-12 months to live!! The call came in the 12th month. Next week will be my one year transplant anniversary.
Of course other health issues come with the territory, and like you I’ll be on medications for the rest of my life, I’m 51.
I’m living my best life with my wife, dog and guns. In that order.
Thanks for letting me spill guys, felt good to share.
Please become a organ donor.
Wow Jammo,
thank you for the early wishes and many more…
I agree i wasnt either until the cancer, and it really brought me closer to God. I suppose that was one of the points about having it that is good.
Wow about the liver, i cannot imagine how stressful it must have been being in the 12th month, and then you get the news one was available and compatable. Congrats on the 1 year anniversary man… thats a great accomplishment!!!
Well we can be birds of a feather, specially since we’re not that far off in age either.
you’re more than welcome about sharing. thats what we’re here for is to hang out and share, and have fun.
gun related part of post = I cant wait to see your 1911s. I’ve got a few more i’ve had in the past i can post later.
Thanks for the kind words sir and I hope all is well.
