Ithaca M49 22 lever single shot

I’ve had one of these before back in the day but not as rough as this one. Furniture sure looks more like oak than birch. Missing the dummy tubular magazine. But it’s a shooter.

Nice!
Owned one back in the mid to late 1970’s. Also had matching lever action operated break barrel single shot 12ga. Came as a set brand new around 1974 or 75 for $71.00 both guns…

Older brother hocked/traded or sold them after I left home to join the Air Force. He also traded, sold my Dad’s Winchester model 74 semiauto .22LR.

Oh, he also sold my 1968 fender precision bass guitar after I left.

That’s what Big Brothers are for, right?

Oh my gosh! Winchester 74 was crazy accurate! Loaded through the butt plate if my memory serves me right? Sad loss for all of your items especially family heirlooms! Sad.
Thank you for your service sir! I was Army but logged some hours in flight on a C130, C141 and C5 Galaxy. Got to tour the academy when l was stationed in Colorado.

Model 74. Yes, 14rd tube magazine loaded in the side of the rifle butt. The the spring follower was inserted and lock into the butt plate. Made between 1939 and 55. Some were issued to British citizens during WW2 to help defend if German land invasion occurred.

Glad you found your parts. I have one that I have owned for close to 60 years. It was a Christmas present in my youth.

That is just too cool! Did you know they built a 22 magnum single as well? I found that out when l was ordering the parts

I didn’t 60 years ago, but did know later on. Mine has the youth stock. It is an early model without an SN. I’m happy with the .22 version, especially when I was young and buying bullets. It shoots short, long and long rifle bullets. Not many manufacturers make .22 shorts anymore.

When you get to see someone else’s repair…

There is two pins that help support the forearm stock that are seated in the front of the receiver, they were bent flush into the forearm. I was able to pull them.

Bend them back and hopefully get to reuse.
