This is my varmint AR. I custom built this one with one purpose in mind and that was accuracy. The only problem now is that it is more accurate than I am. I don’t have any excuses if I miss an intended target.

Yeah, my rifles, scopes and bullets all shoot better than I do. Nothing to blame but the nut behind the stock!!

What barrel and bullet (i assume 77gr otm) do you guys recommend. I have a rifle length psa AR and want to accurize it. Has a 4-16 vortex, all psa upper with a 1:7 barrel, self milled lower and 2lb trigger. With factory ammo, i can barely keep it in a 12 inch group. Going to try handloads next. But the next step is a barrel. Im not expecting moa being its more of a budget build but would be awesome. I more less want to prove that you dont need to spend 2500 bucks to get one that is moa accurate. An 8" group at 500 would be worlds different. Lol

I shoot Hornady HPBT 75 gn. Besides being a lot cheaper, they fly very well. Don’t replace your barrel, DC Machine makes excellent barrels. When they’re actually measured they do better than the “cool name” barrels. If you get the right powder 2700+ fps is easy, and easy on your brass. I use Shooters World Match Rifle but there’s some great powders in that general burn rate. Accurate 2520, CFE 223, Lever Evolution etc. When I’m not being retarded sub MOA at 600 yards is no problem. I get 2775 fps out of my Match Rifle and my brass seems to last forever(I anneal every time). Good luck!! They’re great fun!!

Dont replace the barrel on my upper? So worry more about the custom hand loads?

Its just a mil spec barrel

I’m a huge fan of DC Machine barrels. I have 3 rifle length 556’s and 3 rifle length PA10’s. Every one of them has shot 5 in a row through 1 hole at 100 yards(can I do that on command?, heck no!!) . Good bullets help a lot but there’s nothing like lots of range time.

Awesome! Thanks man!

@Lincolnlocker

If your PSA barrel is shooting 12" groups… I would double check the barrel nut is properly torqued at the very least.

I have quite a few DC Machine / PSA barrels that are great shooters.

No offense, but check the scope is also properly torqued.

Make sure there is no contact from the gas block with the free float handguard as well… As in no chance of contact.

If you do want a different barrel… buy a Criterion, or a Krieger. Both are capable of out standing accuracy.

I also prefer to have a snug upper and lower fit. Easier to get a consistent wielding of the firearm.

I also suggest , lapping the upper receiver face and using Loctite 638 or the 620 ? the green one , to help with a snug fit of the barrel extension and upper.

Awesome! Thank you for the tips! Now that you mention that, my lower is not snug to the upper. I have no idea why i never thought of that… :man_facepalming:t3:

Holy crap. Finally got around to messing with my rifle. Disassembled everything. Put back together with all propper torque specs… went to rezero, realized that all i could see is crosshairs… and everything else behind it was a horrible blurr… tried it anyway. 3" group at 40yds🤦🏼‍♂️… went back inside to my work bench, threw on a new primary arms acss cyclops prizm and went back out to my range. 40yds. Clover leafed with m193… 77gr otm smk, hole inside of hole… went back inside and grabbed a cheap 1-5 magnifier and went back out to 100. Sub moa with the 77gr otm… backed up to 200. That was very hard btw with the ■■■■ magnifier… this was the outcome with the 77gr smk. 2 mags. 3rds each. Back to back… black friday deals are starting. Ordered a swampfox 1-10 lpvo to put on it… gotta send the vortex in for warranty that i had on it…

I have three PSA-AR builds; in 5.56, .308, and 6.5 Creedmoor. The one in the middle is Ebony (5.56) and she can shoot a grouping of 6rounds within the size of a quarter at 300yds. Noveske barrel!

This is my 5.56 long range varmint rifle. The stripped upper, stripped lower and handguard are all a matched billet set from Mega Arms- GTR-3H. Mega Arms has been bought out by Zev. The barrel is a match grade, heavy, and fluted 18’ Wilson Combat Super Sniper Barrel with a match chamber in .223 Wylde. I have a Fail Zero NIB full auto bolt carrier. The trigger is a Geissele SSA-E. All of the parts are either stainless or NIB. The scope is a Sightron Scope SIII- 10-50x60mm illuminated with a 30mm tube mounted in a Larue Tactical LT104 qd SPR one piece scope mount. This rifle is way more accurate than I am. If I don’t hit the mark then it is my fault not the rifle. I haven’t had the chance yet to go beyond 100yards with yet but it is sub moa at 100 yards. The tactical light is a Surefire M951. I built this with the best components that Icould find at that time.
