Edit: they are in there just hollow and I’m a little paranoid because of the front pin.
I’ve had my 57 a few weeks and right after getting it one of the guys at the range pointed out one of the front grip pins was loose and sticking out a little so we pushed it back into place. Spent some time at the range yesterday and when I got home to clean it realized both of the rear housing pins as seen in the picture are now missing. I’m assuming they shouldn’t be that loose and definitely shouldn’t be loose enough to fall out?
They definitely should not be loose enough to fall out… Or even walk a little bit. It sounds like you need to contact Customer Service and may need to send the pistol back for examination.
Just for piece of mind, you’re sure the roll pins are completely missing correct? The picture isn’t the clearest. I only ask because the rear roll pins are hollow and you would be able to see light through them, unlike the solid front pins.
Thanks for clarifying that as I did not know the rears are hollow. I can’t quite tell. I need better eyes. It looks like they may actually be in there. I’m have another set of eye take a look. The front most grip pin walks a little and maybe has me a bit paranoid. I’m going to have it looked at tomorrow and will update
Okay. I would have definitely been very surprised if both roll pins would have walked out. They’re an interference fit and require a punch to remove, that’s why I was curious. The front pin walking is still something that should be checked out. They typically “click” into place when installed if I remember correctly, as if there’s a small detent that holds them in place. Definitely report back once another set of eyes look at the rear pins, or try posting another picture with direct light looking down at the pins.
I think I may see a little sliver of light from the pic where the roll pin would be split. Makes me think they’re in there. The glint of light is not in the same place on each hole which would make me think it’s the roll pin groove rather than a reflection.
Alright. After further inspection and trying to move the slide it looks they are actually in there. Thanks for all the information and helping me through that guys. Just need to figure out how to secure the front grip pin and it’ll be 100%.
If you can find the equivalent of Mil-S-8802 sealant just push the pin out clean it and the hole with solvent. Rubbing alcohol will work for the polymer. Dab the hole and the pin and push it in wipe off excess and let it cure. Shouldn’t move after that.
