Fired my Rock for the first time. Was shooting American Eagle. First shot is fine, case ejects fine, but slide does not completely return. Hangs about an 1/8 of an inch back. Result is either light primer strike or no fire. Slapping it worked most of the time. I was sure to lube up the gun before shooting. Anyone seen this issue and are there any suggestions for rectifying? Thanks everyone!
Try different ammo. The AE has been hit or miss.
Will give something else a try. Thanks!
I second trying some different ammo, AE57 is basura. Do you have any pictures of the spent casings?
I’d quick try loading 15rds. in a mag. takes some pressure off…also too much lube…lot of this is break-in fun, enjoy.
I hate to state the obvious, but have you done a thorough clean and lube? Make sure to lightly lube the slide-frame interface? Check for any burs on the mating surfaces of the slide and frame?
Peace favor your sword,
Kirk
Follow up to my issue:
Problem still exists.
- The gun was thoroughly cleaned and lubed again.
- Used 12 rounds in mag.
- Pictures below of out of battery issue as well as empty casing. I do see that the shoulder of the case appears expanded. Not sure if that is normal or not.
I have a couple of boxes of AAC on the way so that will address whether or not ammo is the issue. Thanks for everyone’s thoughts and suggestions.

Any pics of the chamber?
@Buffman-RANGE we could use your trained eye on this ammo
Are you able to induce the failure by hand? Like just cycling it by hand causes it to jam?
Shine A really bright flashlight in there and make sure you don’t have a piece of neck stuck in there. See if a round by itself drops in. Contact PSA as chamber may be out of spec.
It does not occur when I sling it manually.
This, of course, is a gold tin coating. While the chamber looks clear to me (no case fragment) I could easily be wrong.
Drop a round in there for me and take a picture of how much it sticks out
Your extractor is suspect IMO.
Thanks for the input. I have asked PSA Customer Support for assistance.
IMO that would be best ![]()
