To PSA: "Why are you neglecting the Compact X slide?"

Just my observation. I was so interested and fired up when they released it and i was hoping and waiting for some future improvements, upgrades and something that PSA has done to a Compact slide. Ok, to cut the story short:

  1. Since release, it was only 1 style and never any offer like Compact’s have. Even Rock got RK1 milled slide. I mean, all those different milled slides for Compact and 1 for Rock and no interest for Compact X. Not one.

  2. Every PSA slide (Compact and Rock) is offered with threaded and non threaded barrels. Why isn’t there an option for threaded Compact X?

  3. Every PSA slide (Compact and Rock) is offered in the “stripped” option, without a barrel and guide rod. Why can’t the same thing be offered for Compact X? I mean, how hard is it to remove the rod and barrel and put the slide on the web page to sell it like that.

  4. Every time there is some PSA slide on sale and it’s constantly changing, from week to week. Compact X has never been on any sale or discount or bundle nor any kind of deal, as far as i know and i’m checking PSA site every few days. Correct me if i am wrong.

That web page for Compact X looks like it’s been frozen in time. Since its release it stayed the same.
If someone says that there is not enough interest, probably something should be changed, improved, updated, upgraded to attract some interest.
I mean, the product is already there.

They had a sale of all of them at the beginning of April where they were like $219 for their pre easter sale. It would be pretty cool to see more options for the compact X slide like the threaded and cut options. I think an SW3 version would be pretty cool with 4 cuts or 3 larger ones and a spiral fluted threaded barrel, or even a flush one. They did release the full size SX dagger here recently so it might take them time to get more options put out there if any.

You have to contact them directly. But unless your problem is order specific affecting your personal purchase, don’t expect answers to subjective questions. I know because I’ve already asked some myself and was referred to the list of questions/answers under the product being sold. ???

I’ve brought this up again to the folks in manufacturing. It seems like the only reason they haven’t offered stripped slides is because they are concerned people might get confused on compatibility.

Just might need a super secret order page for forum members, haha

IMO the Compact X slide is kind of a waste if they’re not going to be offered with a longer barrel. The regular slide with a threaded barrel will give you the same barrel length, so the only real advantage to the X slide would be a longer sight radius, and maybe a little better recoil management if you find 9MM offensive to shoot. Also not as good an options on the sights compared to the regular slide. I thought about running one on the new blem frame I picked up, but for the $ for a slide without the night sights I want then it would be me wasting money by buying something I don’t really want.

Plus all of the Compact X slides are optics cut anyway which makes the increased sight picture largely a moot point.

PSA should follow what’s worked and create a macro magazine with comp slide. They can either shorten the barrel or lengthen the slide with comp cuts. People would jump on it.

Looking at some of the cheap sights that people on here are using, they’ll be needing their iron sights sooner rather than later. Unfortunately.

What?

People keep buying the ebay or amazon special red dot sights, which won’t last. So the iron sights will probably come into play for them.

Depends on the red dot I guess since people love to say that about Budget optics in general.

Some budget brands do work well. I’ve found Vortex to be lacking in durability so only use carefully. Holosun’s have survived hell and back for me and I’ve only had 2 out of about 8 arrive dead(not actually dead, but minor issues that effected function such as - button not working, or shifting zero), warranty replacement in about 4-7 days total on each.

Then I see pictures of the 20-60 dollar red dots, like the folding ones made out of that aluminum so cheap that you can tell just from the pictures. And many of those random chinese name brands that always disappear then you see the same red dot rebranded later under another name.

Cause when that brand gets shut down either from trademark issues or reviews, they just rename themselves and start new for a while. I’ve enough experience with pistol red dots to be able to spot pretty accurately how durable it is just from visuals. All these really thin aluminum shrouded ones are a no-go for me. I’ve tried a name brand red dot actually found in local stores, and it bent/broke just from my light amount of body weight on it.

People are saving money on the Dagger itself, should leave more for quality red dots. Don’t skimp on your sighting systems. And I do consider Holosun to be quality. Difference between knocked off products in China, and an Original Design Manufacturer having stuff made there, to their specs.

I do like Holosun as well but do get concerned about “quality creep” from Chinese manufacturers. So far they seem to be managing that well though.

Most of what I’ve seen from them is just cosmetic stuff like a little too much adhesive on the optic glass edges. Just minor things that can be cut off or touched up. Also had one optic that was sorta banana’d. Didn’t mount flat on my Dagger and turns out it wasn’t level. But when mounted it never shifted on me, I just noticed a small gap under it. The rare functional stuff I’ve had does suck but they handle it really well. They also innovate as well so they get a plus from me. They had the top screw mounted enclosed optics before anyone else did after all.
I’m sure quality control issues will creep up but they seem like the type to handle it as soon as it’s brought up to them. That happened with Condor gear a while back actually. Used to have be good, then had more and more issues, and now back to being good (depending on product, but fine most of the time).

Vortex still can’t make optics without refresh rate issues after all this time, so I’ll take quality wherever it comes from.

Not sure if this has ever been asked but is PSA going to offer a G17 sized version of the dagger. I know the large version of the dagger offers up the 17rd capacity, but I’m more interested in the added barrel length, to go along with the added capacity.

Welcome to the forum @1977Bowhunter

Thank you. Lurked a little bit, crazy busy work schedule, and paired with a touch of CRS I don’t get back to things as fast as I’d like

I have a Swampfox Liberty that has been extremely reliable for about a year now. It is definitely a budget RDS, but it’s been rock-solid.

Now, on the Compact X slide itself, it isn’t for me. It looks fine on a Dagger S frame, but on the Compact, I personally am not a fan.

That would be the dagger full size SX
