I’m definitely more of a semiautomatic guy, but there are a couple of revolvers I do love. The Colt Python is a great gun, but Colt no longer has the skilled gunsmiths to do the beautiful polished bluing. Id love to get a vintage blued Python. The other two I love are the Ruger GP100 and the S&W R8.
I think part of the reason you don’t see as much of that old school bluing these days is that the process was proven to cause cancer.
I get the revolver bug. I’ve been on a Colt Snake Gun kick. Here are four of the seven I recently picked up.
I much prefer the brushed stainless finish
My GP100 has seen some use…a short amount of time with the appropriate Scotchbrite and she looks like she did when she came off the gunmaker’s bench when new
Polished stainless is ok, but not as easy to “recondition” as brushed
I agree. None of my wheelguns are work guns, I leave that to the polymers, so all of mine are polished or nickeled, but if you were using a GP as a carry, ranch, or hunting weapon I could definitely understand wanting brushed.
I don’t know, seems to be a minority opinion, but blued just never did it for me. I don’t like it as much on pretty much anything across the board.
I have a thing for Rossi Revolvers… I’ve been looking for a Rossi model 462 in stainless 357… looks like this :
to me its a beautiful little gun… i had it once, and i regret trading it, but at the time it was traded im glad i got what i got if that makes sense. just wish i coulda kept her… so if you guys see one, lemme know… they arent worth much… they were like 300 bucks new at academy a few y ears ago… so used i’d say between 200-300 value.
thanks for the link… geeze… did you see that dang price though…
bit too high for my liking
Crazy price indeed
Only thing missing from that lineup is a S&W .460XVR. Because you can fire .454 Casull from it.
Hah, of course you do. Knew it.

All wheelguns matter. Even the little ones.
In my 20’s my ex-BIL had a Contender Match pistol, It wasn’t a revolver but had interchangeable barrels /uppers if you will, crazy accurate single shot iirc. He had a couple barrels the were absolute hand cannons.
