The gas tube pin tool (GPT) is a specialized jig designed for the installation and removal of the gas tube roll pin on AR-15/M16 low-profile gas blocks. Constructed from 6061 aluminum and finished with a Type III hard coat anodization, the GPT facilitates a seamless installation process for the gas tube pin on low-profile gas blocks. Engineered for stability and precision, the GPT maintains a compact footprint to minimize space usage on a crowded workbench. Many low-profile gas blocks lack flat surfaces, making it challenging to hold them steady without assistance. The GPT allows users to easily install and remove the gas tube roll pin. Its base is designed to be thick and wide for enhanced stability, with a rebate to enable secure clamping in a vise. The GPT features thoughtful design elements, such as scalloped finger access recesses and soft, rounded corners and edges. Its green color is intentionally chosen to contrast with the typically black gas blocks, enhancing visibility and ease of use. A small Neodymium magnet on the gas block is strong enough to hold the gas tube roll pin upright, perpendicular to the gas tube. With one hand stabilizing the gas block in the GPT, users can begin tapping the gas tube roll pin into place. The GPT is compatible with most gas blocks, including models from Forward Controls, SOLGW, BCM, Rainier, VLTOR, Knight's Armament, Badger Ordnance, Daniel Defense, SLR and other low-profile gas blocks based on the original Crane design.
