KG-2 was initially developed to preserve the bore integrity of sniper rifles. Unlike most other mechanical products, KG-2 is free of ammonia and features a 1200-1400 grit soft compound designed to remove copper and lead while maintaining the bore's integrity. In most scenarios, KG-2 performs exceptionally well in eliminating copper and lead when used with quality patches; however, in certain cases, the use of nylon brushes is recommended. The product operates on the principle of removing copper and lead from the lands and grooves only, while merely smoothing over the impregnated copper and lead in the bore's micro-fractures. KG-2 helps reduce the necessity for fouling shots and is recommended and utilized by SWAT and sniper teams. It is an ideal product for fire polishing, a technique that produces a finer finish than fire lapping.
