What is the weight of this pistol?
Roger N on Aug 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: With an EOTECH 512, flip-up sights and no magazine, weight is 6lbs 11oz.
Over all length?
PJr40 on Jun 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: From end of flash hider to end of pistol brace, fully extended - 29 inches. From end of flash hider to end of pistol brace, fully collapsed - 26.5 inches. Flash hider extends 1.25 inches beyond the end of the barrel.
So if the oal of this pistol is 26.5 with a barrel less than 16 inches wouldn't this be considered a sbr . I thought if you have a barrel less than 16 inches the oal cannot exceed 26 inches. Am I confusing this?
John S on Oct 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe its the brace that makes it a pistol vs SBR
Can you buy this in Michigan?
Jobor on Dec 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: They wont ship to Michigan, I tried ordering one and got denied. My local FFL sells 10.5” ar’s with sba3 and says there isn’t a problem, you just have to transport it as a longgun if it’s over 26” oal. In the end I’m just left confused!
does this have a carbine length buffer or pistol, I thought the sba3 used a carbine length buffer?
billy h on Jul 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Appears to be a standard mil-spec carbine buffer tube. 7" inside length, 1.14" OD behind the threads.
Which buffer and buffer spring does it come with?
Justin C on Jul 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Buffer weighs three ounces even - appears to be a standard weight buffer. Can't tell on the spring, but overall length of the spring (uncompressed) is about 10.25 inches.
Does this ship with magazines?
James M on Aug 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mine came with a single 30 round aluminum magazine.
What is the weight?
Jjfff on Feb 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: With an EOTECH 512 and flip-up sights (no mag), weight is 6lbs, 11oz. Picture is in gallery.
Can you change the Buttstock on this pistol?
Harold T on Jan 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This pistol DOES NOT have a Buttstock. It has a very nice adjustable arm brace. You can always change the brace to another style, but I think this is one of the better braces made today. If you choose to modify this pistol by putting a Buttstock on it, you would create a Short Barreled Rifle ( SBR ). You will be creating an NFA item and would only be legal by obtaining a tax stamp through the NFA process. Personally I would leave the pistol as is and enjoy.
do this AR is register as Rifle or Pistol?
julianpr019 j on Jul 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I’m michgan it is registered as a pistol
Is this gun silencer/suppressor ready?
Andrew on Mar 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It has an A2 flash hider on it. That can be removed and the barrel is threaded with the standard 1/2x28 pitch. You can either direct thread a compatible flash hider or put on any 1/2x28 device for quick detach of your particular suppressor.
is this considered a "mil-spec" lower?
Alejandro M on Nov 9, 2018
that pistol brace looks adjustable in the pics , is this correct?
SHAWN W on May 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, that is correct. It has 5 positions, and a total adjustable range of about 2.75 inches. At the shortest position, the brace is up against the buffer tube nut, at the longest position the brace is about 2.75 inches away from the buffer tube nut.
Does the bolt lock open after the last round ?
James H on Feb 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it’s a standard platform AR15 just in pistol form so all controls and operations are the same as any standard AR15.
Just curious , does this need to be registered as a SBR?
Orlando R on Dec 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No Sir, the Brace on this pistol is legal to own still as of Dec 2018 without having to SBR it. Just check if it is legal to own this type of pistol in your state.
Is this an AR 15?
ERNEST H on Oct 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is an AR-15 PISTOL, so check your local laws regarding legality of ownership. Must be 21 to own.
If you can own it were you are I can tell you it is a dang good pistol. It does not come with any sights so you will have to buy those extra and mount them to the Picantinny rail.
Is the rail free floating?
J F on Mar 24, 2019
Has anyone put a suppressor on this? Is it difficult? How did it work?
tom t on Jan 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: yes, silencerco saker. very easy to take on and off. class III permit required. about as loud as a ruger 10/22 with standard loads.
What kind of groups are folks getting at 100 yds etc?
Kanoy on Jan 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I put a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dot on mine and am getting all shots inside a six inch shoot n see pasted target at 50 yards - shooting from the standing offhand position. Have not fired at 100 yards but am pretty confident of similar groups. If I shot from a bench rest I would expect 2 inch groups at 100 yards - but that’s not my preference.
Since the the overall length is 26.5" fully collapsed, is it ok to install a vertical fore grip?
Trav T on Apr 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No. In order to get an "official" length measurement, you need to measure from the end of the buffer tube (without the brace on) to the end of the threads of the barrel. If the muzzle device is pinned and welded, then you can measure to the end of the muzzle device.
Can i buy this and my ffl call it in as a pistol ?
Richs on Feb 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes! With the brace, this is considered a pistol by the NFA.

Speedy shipping process, awesome AR for the price few hundred rounds through it and no issues at all.
May 22, 2019
Very pleased with the ordering and checkout process, very quick and simple. It shipped with no problems. This was my first purchase from PSA and it certainly will not be my last. Absolutely fell in love with the AR pistol.

Great pistol but quality control definitely lacking...
Pistol shipped incredibly quick and I was very happy with it. I’m about 500 rounds through it without any functional issues.

HOWEVER, this is my second PSA product and both products have had upper assembly FSB/handguard issues. This pistol in particular, the free float had guard is about an inch separated from the upper and’s pretty sloppy but not a dealbreaker.

Stop taking all my money
PSA.. wow.. great fit and finish, initial testing with all ammo - zero issues. EPT trigger is very well done for this pistols intended application for me. Dropped a red dot on rail, during sight in was seeing about 2-3 moa.. might even see 2 with my pet loads..

For all the naysayers
You're only paying $499.00 with free shipping, what else do you want?

Overall I’m pleased for the price point. It’s been a 100 percent reliable except extractor issue.
I purchased this rifle end of last year. I log rounds on all weapons for regular maintenance. The 500 round mark I started having intermittent extraction problems like one failure to extract per 150 rds on two occasions inspected extractor second time and found it chipped around claw. Replace with another new extractor I had on hand problem solved. Contacted PSA for replacement but haven’t heard anything yet. Not a big deal as it’s a $16 part and the rifle is priced right. Overall fit finish was good, accuracy was a inch at 50 yds but haven’t had a chance to test at 100 yds. I had no problem hitting reduced steel targets at 200 yds. Charge handle finish is wearing faster than most but again no big deal. No steel crap ammo was fired through weapon only brass Serb 5.56. Note: some screws we not tight on rail and gas block. I lock tighted them and torked them appropriately with no problems.

Eh...machining issues..disappointing
I opened the box and worked the action a few times and started to see metal shavings coming off the charging handle. I sent it back and it was returned in the same condition since the weapon fired. I am use to better quality metal shavings on a new gun is not acceptable by my standards. If you want a high-point grade plinker this may be the ticket but not for me, not a value in my book. I did get $30 gift card and a new charging handle is on the way but I would rather have have bought a better quality gun and would not have made this purchase had I known the quality issues.

Amazing deal. I think this is just as nice as the big name ar pistols out there, maybe better.
I just picked up from my FFL today and the thing is awesome. Took it out to my buddy's farm and shot 60 rounds toward a pile of dirt with no sights installed yet. It is amazing. The thing is complete quality all the way around and I couldn't say enough about Palmetto State Armory.

Oh man, this thing is awesome!!! 1-inch groups @25 off a bag with a 2MOA red dot. That's mathematically 4 inches at 100 from a 10.5in. bbl. By the way, the original CAR15 circa 1965 or so had a...10.5in. bbl. I've run a couple hundred rounds thru mine in 2 sessions so far, just goes boom-boom-boom. It's loud; a directional brake or flash-can will help some. Very handy and come on - free-floated, enhanced trigger, magpul and SB furniture. You cannot beat this deal if you want an AR platform pistol.
