The next step involves a parallel expander section that internally expands and aligns the case, creating an ideal bearing surface for the bullet as it is seated. This process also improves bullet pull consistency and ensures uniform start pressure. A small step follows to properly align the bullet with the centerline of the cartridge case, positioning it perfectly for contact with the seating micrometer, which adds uniformity during the seating process. Finally, the die includes a flare to open the case mouth, particularly useful when seating cast bullets, preventing lead shaving and ensuring a smooth, precise seating process.
