Features
The 6.5mm/.264 inches bore has recently experienced a resurgence in popularity. Several rifle manufacturers are currently producing 6.5x55mm sporting rifles, introducing a new generation of shooters to this renowned Scandinavian service and hunting cartridge. Competitive high-power and Silhouette shooters have also expressed significant interest in the 6.5mm bore size. The 144 grain #1744 bullet is an excellent choice for competition at ranges up to 1000 yd in medium- and high-capacity 6.5mm cartridges. Introduced in 2018, the #1744 bullet is recognized globally for its record-setting accuracy. However, MatchKing and tipped MatchKing bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although these bullets are often used for varmint hunting, their design does not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints as their lightly jacketed hornet, blitz or varminter counterparts.
