Features

We named this knife the Spyderco Assist black blade because its primary function is to assist in critical situations. Designed for emergency fire/rescue professionals and prepared citizens who demand reliability and ease of use, this lightweight folder features a blade coated in non-reflective black carbon nitride. The patented lift-and-pry (blunt-nose) shape is crafted from high-carbon VG-10 stainless steel and incorporates serrations along most of its 3-3/8 inches (86mm) cutting-edge, with the last inches at the tip left PlainEdged. Above the one-hand-open hole, you'll find a Cobra Hood feature, a metal cap that facilitates quick, tactile opening and doubles as a textured leverage platform for the thumb during cutting. A wavy pattern along the top of the blade and handle enables controlled rope cutting: by placing a rope in the groove between the partially open blade and handle, you can safely slice and trim without fully exposing the cutting-edge. The handle is constructed from black lightweight fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) and includes a survival whistle at the butt end, emitting a shrill, high-pitched sound for signaling. A reinforced wire pocket clip allows for left- or right-hand carry, attaching through the handle on either side. Inside the handle, a retractable and replaceable carbide-tip glass/ice breaker is housed, deploying when the closed blade is squeezed into the handle and retracting upon release of pressure.
