Features

Zome (pronounced "zoh-may") is a traditional Japanese handicraft focused on textile dyeing, deeply rooted in the country's rich cultural history. This ancient art involves various methods of creating intricate patterns on cloth using natural dyes derived from plants, flowers and fruits. Inspired by this heritage, Spyderco introduces Zome knives, unique variants of our lightweight models featuring injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handles. Each handle starts with a light base color and undergoes a meticulous hand-dyeing process by skilled Japanese artisans, reminiscent of traditional hiki-zome (brush dyeing) techniques. Multiple colors of dye are carefully applied by hand, resulting in distinctive and exclusive patterns. Similar to Japan's traditional dyeing methods, the special dyes penetrate the FRN material, ensuring a lasting, vibrant finish. The Endura 4 Lightweight Zome Edition retains all the hallmark features of its lineage, including a full-flat-ground VG-10 stainless steel blade, a robust back lock mechanism, skeletonized stainless steel liners and a versatile four-position pocket clip.
