Features
Despite its outward appearance as a conversion, the 1871-72 open top model marked colt's pioneering step into crafting a revolver explicitly designed to utilize centerfire cartridges. This innovative design incorporated the loading gate directly into the frame. Distinct from colt's percussion revolvers, this firearm was conceived as an entirely new model, initially equipped with navy-sized grips and later transitioning to army-sized grips. The Hickok model represents a contemporary reinterpretation of the timeless open top revolver, characterized by its distinctive snub nose barrel. This particular variant boasts a case-hardened forged steel frame, coupled with a round barrel that features a front blade sight for precise aiming. Notably, it lacks an ejector rod for a streamlined design. Its grip components are elegantly finished in blued steel, complementing the army-sized walnut grip for comfortable handling. To further enhance accuracy, a rear sight notch is thoughtfully positioned on the rear of the barrel.
