The Browning design, manufactured by Colt from 1908 to 1946, features a striker mechanism instead of a traditional hammer, a design that has been widely adopted globally. Initially, the pistol was equipped with both a grip safety and a thumb safety. However, models produced after serial number 141000 included an additional magazine safety, which prevents the firearm from discharging when the magazine is removed.
