It is particularly effective in .338 Lapua Magnum with 250 grain bullets, but it is also suitable for handloading a wide range of calibers, from 6.5x55 SE to .416 Rigby. The N165 powder grains are identical in size (1.3mm in length x 1mm in diameter) to those of its counterpart, N160; however, the surface coating differentiates their burning characteristics. N165 is a very slow-burning rifle powder, making it an excellent choice for the same range of cartridges as N160 when using heavier bullets.
