Features

Vihtavuori N570 rifle powder is a recent addition to our high-energy powder lineup, specifically developed in response to requests from magnum cartridge reloaders. Recognizing a market need for this type of powder, we engineered N570 to fulfill our customers' requirements. This high-energy powder, characterized by its large grain size and high bulk density, is designed to maximize the velocities of cartridges with very large volume cases, such as the 6.5-.284 Norma, .300 Win Mag, .300 Remington Ultra Magnum and .338 Lapua Magnum. Vihtavuori N570 is ideally suited for long-range target shooting and military applications involving large volume cartridges. As the slowest powder in our high-energy range, N570 is an extruded, tubular powder with grain dimensions of 2.3mm in length and 1.3mm in diameter. Due to its large kernel size, similar to 24N41 and 20N29, we recommend weighing N570 charges rather than relying on powder measures, which may not always provide consistent charges. This practice helps prevent undercharging or overcharging cases. Like all powders in our N500 series, N570 is manufactured from our high-quality nitrocellulose, with grains impregnated with nitroglycerine and non-energetic additives. This composition results in increased muzzle velocity without raising chamber pressure or causing additional wear on the firearm. Vihtavuori also produces propellants for military use and our products are tested according to NATO standards and requirements. Military cartridges undergo testing in extreme cold conditions, down to -54 deg C / -65 deg F. In these extreme temperatures, heavy loads with N570 have shown signs of increased pressure. Prioritizing safety, we strongly advise the reloading community to adhere to the following safety measure - due to the risk of high pressure in heavy loads, we do not recommend using N570 powder in temperatures below -20 deg C / -4 deg F. For heavy loads in cold temperatures, we recommend using N568 powder instead. All other N500-series powders are safe for use at any temperature, including those below 0 deg C / 32 deg F.

  • Utilize Vihtavuori N570 propellant in conjunction with .338 Lapua Magnum cartridges, optimized for projectiles with a mass of 19.4 g (300 grain) for enhanced ballistic performance
