The hunter variant, designed to mirror the shape and ergonomics of the mark V Backcountry 2.0 rifle family that was introduced earlier in 2021, showcases a polymer stock characterized by a sleek flat-bottomed forend, ambidextrous palm swells, and aluminum pillar construction. It is finished in an urban & black Speckle color scheme. The mark V Hunter's barreled action is threaded at 1/2 x 28, allowing compatibility with suppressors or brakes. A layer of Cobalt Cerakote protects the action from various environmental elements. The bolt, featuring deep fluting and a removable knob, serves to reduce weight and enhance dust and debris clearance while promoting smoother functionality. Offered in a wide range of cartridges, the mark V hunter accommodates both Weatherby magnum chamberings and American classics. Engineered as one of the world's most robust actions, the mark V features a distinctive multi-lug bolt system inspired by the interrupted thread lockup style. It is available in both standard and magnum action sizes, with the standard configuration featuring a six-lug design and the magnum employing nine locking lugs. These design choices enable the actions to safely handle the most powerful commercially available cartridges. Additional safety features include three rings of steel surrounding the base of the cartridge when it's in battery, a fully enclosed bolt shroud, and three gas relief ports in the bolt body designed to vent pressure in the event of ammunition failure.
