Palmetto State Armory is introducing PSA Ammo, a new ammunition brand built around transparency, verified performance and purpose-driven load development.

AAC has played an important role in PSA’s ammunition history, but with AAC Suppressors now operating under the JJE family, the companies are creating a clearer distinction between ammunition and suppressor products. AAC will continue as a suppressor brand, while future ammunition offerings will carry the PSA Ammo name.

Because PSA’s in-house powder production is still coming online, the company is initially focusing on specialized, lower-volume ammunition rather than stretching its available supply across a high-volume lineup.

PSA Ammo will launch with three distinct product lines:

  • Guardsman: Reliable ammunition for training and high-volume range use
  • Sabre: Precision-focused ammunition for competition, hunting and long-range shooting
  • Mixtape: Specialized ammunition developed and tested for suppressed platforms

Every box will include a lot number connected to published test data. Shooters will be able to review information such as velocity, pressure and standard deviation before using the ammunition.

Why PSA Is Launching Its Own Ammunition Brand

For more than a decade, customers have trusted PSA firearms, components and complete builds. PSA Ammo extends that same focus on accessibility, reliability and performance into ammunition manufacturing.

The new branding also creates a clear separation between two product categories:

  • AAC will remain focused on suppressors.
  • PSA Ammo will represent ammunition manufactured and tested under the PSA name.

Rather than immediately pursuing maximum production volume, PSA is concentrating its available resources on ammunition developed for specific shooting applications.

Published Testing for Every Ammunition Lot

A major focus of PSA Ammo is providing shooters with measurable performance information instead of relying solely on marketing claims.

Every box will include a lot number that can be used to access testing information on the PSA website. Depending on the ammunition line, published data may include:

  • Muzzle velocity
  • Chamber pressure
  • Standard deviation
  • Extreme spread
  • Tested firearm platforms
  • Barrel lengths
  • Suppressor configurations
  • Cycling and reliability results

This system will allow customers to research the specific ammunition lot they are loading rather than relying only on generalized specifications.

Guardsman Ammunition for Training

The Guardsman line is designed for shooters who regularly train and need ammunition that consistently feeds, fires and functions.

Guardsman ammunition will prioritize:

  • Reliable operation
  • Consistent point of impact
  • Clean-burning performance
  • Reloadable brass
  • Repeatable performance during extended range sessions

This line is intended for practical training, recreational shooting and other applications where dependable performance across hundreds of rounds is essential.

Sabre Ammunition for Precision Shooting

Sabre ammunition is built for situations where small variations in velocity or consistency can affect the outcome of a shot.

Potential applications include:

  • Precision Rifle Series competition
  • National Rifle League competition
  • Long-range target shooting
  • Long-range hunting
  • Other precision shooting disciplines

Sabre ammunition will include published performance figures such as standard deviation, extreme spread and muzzle velocity. The goal is to give precision shooters measurable data they can use to evaluate ammunition performance.

Mixtape Ammunition for Suppressed Platforms

The Mixtape line is specifically developed for suppressed firearms and specialized cartridges.

Initial Mixtape offerings are expected to include calibers such as:

  • 9mm
  • .300 Blackout
  • .338 ARC
  • 8.6 Blackout

Each load will be tested for cycling reliability across selected firearm hosts, barrel lengths and suppressor configurations. PSA plans to publish those testing details so customers can better understand how each load was validated.

This approach is especially valuable for suppressed firearm owners because ammunition performance can vary based on firearm configuration, gas system, barrel length, suppressor design and projectile velocity.

A Purpose-Driven Approach to Ammunition

PSA is not positioning PSA Ammo as the highest-volume ammunition brand. Instead, the company is focusing on producing verified ammunition for shooters who need dependable performance from every round.

The Guardsman, Sabre and Mixtape lines each serve a different purpose:

  • Guardsman supports dependable training.
  • Sabre supports precision and long-range performance.
  • Mixtape supports suppressed and specialized platforms.

By combining purpose-built ammunition with lot-specific testing data, PSA Ammo aims to give shooters greater confidence in the ammunition they select and load.
