Dagger and Falling Mags

We are currently having the Pistol Operations Manager look into the 27rd mags dropping to verify that this is an isolated incident. I will update you shortly. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. I will PM you my e-mail address.

Thank you,

Josiah

Thank you, sir.

I have a Dagger I ordered on September 2021 that has a little over 750 rounds through it, much of that being PSA AAC 124 gr ammo (which is very nice ammo btw).

I recently had an issue with a mag coming loose which I attributed to something with my grip, but after someone mentioned this possible issue to me I checked my mags and barrel. All of my range mags are clearly being chewed up on the top front edge, and my barrel has a burnished line and damage along the bottom edge where I believe it is contacting the magazines. Base on date purchased and visual inspection per posted pictures, I believe I have an early generation locking block.

I was planning on taking this handgun to a 1 day pistol class in August, and then moving it into my carry rotation. I find the ergonomics are significantly better than my Glock 19, but I don’t want to be That Guy on the firing line who’s causing slowdowns because my mags are flying out of my gun.

Who do I contact about this issue? Is this being handled through the forum or do I need to contact customer service?

PSA Team, Any help would be appreciated. I can’t send a PM on this bc I’m new here, but I’m having all sorts of issues with my brand new Dagger. I took it out last weekend and put 300 rounds through it.

  1. Mag drop every time is used one of the 27 round PMAGs that came with the gun.
  2. Failure to feed more times than I kept track of. I would estimate around 10 times.
  3. Failure to go into battery on multiple occasions. I’d have to hit the back of the slide for the gun to finish racking the round.
  4. Around 5 lite pin strikes. Reload the round, chamber it again, bang.
Also, not sure what to think of this, but the slide racks fine when the gun is empty, but when loaded it’s incredibly gritty feeling. It doesn’t matter if the mag is full or if there’s one round in. It’s just very gritty feeling when chambering a round.

I’m not new to guns. I’ve never experienced any of these issues with any of my other pistols. This is my first Glock clone, however, so I’m not familiar with the platform.

Any help is appreciated. I have zero faith in this gun at this point.

We gave you some suggestions when you posted in the other thread. Also, what ammo?

It is very well lubed. That doesn’t explain the gritty feeling because the first thing I did after purchasing was oil it. It takes a considerable amount of force to rack the slide. There’s way too much resistance. I’ve got a couple of S&W and a Springfield that all rack smooth as glass compared to this thing. It’s just awful. I’m happy to take your suggestion on limp wristing, but that still doesn’t solve the other issues. I used AMMO Inc 115 gr and Remington 115 gr (ball ammo). I’ve also got some Freedom Munitions 124 gr, but I haven’t tried any of that yet.

Be careful with Freedom. I have seen it kaboom a gun before. Supposedly they have the issues fixed, but I won’t ever shoot it/trust it again.

As for the grit…have you taken the slide off the frame and inspected the rails and the channel?
Check the recoil springs also and make sure something there isn’t catching/binding.

A 9mm does NOT have the powder capacity to BOOM a pistol by itself……the only way to blow up or destroy a 9mm barrel is to fire it with a plugged barrel. Even then it may not fail. The 9mm simply does not have the capacity for enough propellant to do that……even if you accidentally overfill the case and compact the powder with the inserted bullet…. Your case will be destroyed. You will likely get powder in your face…. But it’s unlikely to injure you

Have you contacted customer service? They should fix it under warranty

I saw a 9mm squib, followed by a second shot glock frame was destroyed.it may not kaboom your barrel, but certainly can cause a bad day.
Guy got 12 stitches in his hand.

Again…. It was a complete blockage of the barrel. The 9mm ammunition alone does not have the power to do that……without a blockage of the barrel.

Almost any firearm with almost any ammunition would be damaged if fired with an obstructed barrel

Here Kentucky Ballistics intentionally attempts to destroy a Glock with a special ā€œoverpressureā€ round that is 10X the normal pressure and an obstructed barrel. The Glock fails, but there is no catastrophic Kaboom.

True., 9mm ammo doesn’t technically have the power. But when your ammo is faulty, then yes, the ammo can kaboom a gun. Freedom has/had a reputation for faulty ammo. Everything from fail to fire, to overpressured, to underpressured (which caused the squib). Plenty of horror stories you can find on google. Just not worth it IMO.

I’m having the issue with my Dagger, mags are dropping. It does have a Zaffiri Precision barrel. I haven’t swapped back to the original to see if that makes any difference.

Swap back to the original.

I swapped back to the original PSA barrel and emptied 15 rounds without any issue.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I put a Wheaton arms barrel in my dagger and now it drops 15 round Glock mags every shot. What’s weird is if I use the 33 round Glock mags it functions perfectly

Put the factory barrel back in.
