Sig 1911 GSR Stainless 45
Got one of these 6yrs ago and love it. The only problem I have had is it does not like some hollow points. Will not load with the feed ramp. Haven’t shot it a ton but eats FMJ all day.
I’m not a fan of this one. She may have to go.
Isn’t that your Para USA 1911 that is marked being made in Charlotte NC ?
Does it malfunction or something?
I’ve not fired my Para it’s the Remington I don’t care for.
Yeah mine was one of the last before the Remington take over and downfall of Para
Wait I could be wrong… Mine does say Charlotte NC. So is that the Remington era?
Can you tell me more?
The order of progression
Para Ordnance of Canada. 1985-2008
Para USA based in Charlotte NC 2009-2012
Aquired by the Freedom Group , that included Remington Arms.
Basically just a historical footnote from that point.
Kimber Desert Warrior
I do not have a remington… but wouldnt mind a remington R1 tactical if icould find it still
wow 500 in tickets you shoulda won. national wild turkey always has good stuff though to raffle off.
No bones about it…they created a very sharp looking Tactical Sidearm .
Yeah that they do… .this one was part of the marine trials, and wasnt selected over the colt m45a1… just as my MC operator from springfield was not selected either.
Frankly , I dont think it would matter what brand was selected? The MARSOC results would have ended up the same in my opinion.
When the Marines went to Jordan and competed with the best of the rest of the Free World, they couldn’t keep pace with weapons with twice the capacity …and a suppressive fire weapon a 1911 in Stock capacity it isn’t
Yes the Colt’s had Frame and Slide failures here and there…and the Finish wasn’t up to the task either. Who’s to say another brand would have done better after having lost out to Colt? We’ll never know.
Frankly , I think the World expects far too many grandious things from a weapon designed to be used at close range and as a defensive arm from the start .
I think Videos and the Internet has only made these wild expectations worse over time.
Dont confuse this as me saying the 1911 is ready to be put out to pasture, far from it. I think it just needs to be used to do what it was intended for…nothing less, nothing more.
probably, but thats largely because of the name Colt and the lobbyists coming thru with what all they wanted and did ti under the table im sure… anytime folks are trying to get government contracts im sure there is some funny play going on there. I didnt think the corpss was looking for a handgun for suppressive fire, i thought it ws more for a tactical pistol in the 1911 format of a firearm that shot .45acp. You’re right about never knowing, but i still think that springfield had the better handgun in the Marsoc challenge.
i agree the 1911 isnt ready to be put to pasture. I also agree that it should be used for what it was intended for which is a personal sidearm to use long enough to get you to your rifle.
side not here… while we are speaking of the govt’s contracts… imagine this, since the govt was looking for a modular pistol last time they selected the sig 320 for the m17 & m18… imagine that next time, psa steps up with their yet ot be released to us SWCH platform, and wins… that would be so damn sweet… steel framed or polymer… multiple sizes no issues. replaceable grip panels, man all sorts of things can branch from that thinking… that would be too awesome.
I agree Politics had tons to do with Colt gaining the MARSOC Contract. Two things come to mind immediately.
(1) Colt was tossed a bone after losing the M4 Contract to FN USA.
(2) The CEO of Colt Retired USMC LTG William Morgan Keys politiced his way onto the BOD of Colt in 1996 , then found himself as CEO/President of Colt Industries in 1999.
Gen Keys is indeed the Architect of the purchase of Diemaco ( now Colt of Canada) and the division of Colt itself into two seperate intities as in Colt Defense and Colt Commercial.
With all the above being fact. I’m sure he had plenty of Political Beltway Sway in knocking down a small somewhat ego driven contract with MARSOC.
i think you hit it on the head there with being thrown a bone, and the politics and the good general having his cronies in place /office to make the Corps stick together so to say. Also, im sure it helped colt as much as it could, regarding the fact colt had to declare bankrupcy as well, adn this money would have helped a little, but not enough unfortunately.
the good part though was for us enthusiasts, because the Corps contract made a bunch of companies develop some awesome versions of 1911s, and then because of that we were permitted to purchase the models after the fact, Which makes me very happy cause i enjoy collecting them ![]()
This sounds exciting.
MSRP $749
So far Tombstone Tactical in Phoenix Az is the Only Retailer having shown signs of stock on the MAC 1911 JSOC.
They are currently Zero Stock with a last recorded sale price of $866.46…marked down from $900 and some change…before the Fees stack up.
I could get excited about this one at around $800…but when we start getting in the $900 plus range with Taxes and Yada Yada tossed in , I start thinking about the Colt Delta Elite 10mm Rail Gun that’s missing in my Delta collection.
The JSOC is without a doubt a good looking piece , assuming you like the Logo’s that look like a copyright © violation of Orange County Choppers or Counts Kustoms? I prefer a more understated look…Spartan. Tastes vary.
I hate that they elected to go without a Pic Rail…too many 1911’s to choose from that already fit that bill in my collection…and the market as a whole…but if you have a gap in your 1911 collection?, I’m willing to bet this would be an interesting addition.
Like I said…I’d bite at the right price.
