Honest Outlaw Reviews All 5.7 Pistols

For me, it’s the one with the lowest price!

I hear ā€˜ya, PSA is definitely the better price point. Just for fun I looked these three up at Buds Gun Shop.

FN $1,249
Ruger $618
S&W $579

… and a quick look at PSA shows the Rock for $499.

Money aside, I’ve handled both the Ruger and S&W and prefer the Rock. The Ruger felt wrong in my hand and the S&W trigger didn’t suit me. Or was it the other way around.

Years ago I ran a rental G19 and absolutely hated it for hand feel. Wasn’t a fan of 9 but handled a Dagger @ the Greenville store. The ergos were perfect for me. Ordered the 1st Rock based on that alone and have loved it ever since. Might even have a couple daggers.

That reminds me… I still need to pick up a Rock. :sunglasses:

I’ve owned every 5.7 pistol outside of the Excel arms options and I highly recommend the rock.

He speaks highly about the PSA Rock, while at the same time talking about past history with PSA. If he wants to judge them equally. He should equip his PSA with a red dot and threaded barrel, just as he did with the S&W.

I was impressed that he put the Rock a close 2nd to the S&W and said that was only because he had more rounds through the S&W.

But, he also reported no malfunctions with the PSA Rock. Which is a good thing.

I don’t like Outlaw, I don’t think he’s half as ā€œhonestā€ as he wants to come off as. First off I question his overall knowledge about firearms with a lot of the ā€œissuesā€ he has, second, I think it’s pretty obvious he takes kickbacks from S&W and probably others, third, he never shows the actual results of his shooting or a clear visual of what he’s aiming at (it’s pretty easy to fake ā€œringing steelā€ if we can’t see a clear line of the shots,) fourth, it’s very clear in all his revolver reviews he only shoots specials while claiming to do full reviews. Things like that. I also believe he does puff pieces of Gucci guns because he likes being sent them for free. Not to mention the guy masks $50 raffles as ā€œgiveaways.ā€

He strikes me as just another shill with limited knowledge.

I’ve mostly only watched his 5.7 reviews so haven’t seen enough to know if he’s fake or not. He does sometimes come across a bit too brash for my liking, but I guess some folks like that.
At least we know he’s honest (so far) about the 5.7 Rock.

He has another channel on YouTube. It’s called ā€œOutlaw Lifeā€. He and his wife are building a new house on 55 acres. With a longer firing range. It must be nice for his channel supporters to buy him his guns and ammo for his reviews. And, of his reviews are is job. Where did the money come for the new house and land?

I watched a couple of his reviews. Frankly, I don’t like his style. I also don’t feel like he’s fair in his comparisons or the reviews which I’ve seen.

That said, that doesn’t make him dishonest and I think it is completely fair for him to make money with his channel. No reason he shouldn’t. Personally, I don’t care if he’s a S&W ā€œshillā€ or if he does softball pieces for ā€œguicciā€ guns. Apparently his channel subscribers like the content and that’s good enough.

I also don’t think it’s fair to imply that he’s cheating his subscribers somehow because he’s building a new house by speculating on where the money for it comes from. Who knows? Maybe his wife has a great job. Maybe he’s got a second job. Maybe he inherited a bunch of money from a rich uncle. Maybe he’s on 100% disability from combat injuries which aren’t obvious. Maybe he found the leprechaun’s pot of gold or got three wishes by rubbing a lamp. Who knows? The point is that it’s unfair to imply that he’s doing something unethical or nefarious without proof.

I’ve seen dishonest and questionable reviews from gun-toobers before, specifically with the Remington R51 (Gen 2). Some reviewers were honest about malfunctions or reliability issues. OK. On the other hand, some just wanted to do a negative review and complained about how dangerous it was because they could hear the audible click when the grip safety engaged and thus so could a possible assailant but it was also bad because they COULDN’T hear an audible click on the trigger reset. Just because I don’t like the content doesn’t mean they’re unethical. Doing unethical things makes you unethical.

Maybe I’ll watch his 5.7 shootout review (maybe not). At this point the only reason I’d watch a review of the ROCK 5.7 is for entertainment or to confirm my personal choice to own one.

I queued up his 5.7 shoot-out review. I think he was being perfectly fair and honest in this video.

I don’t see any reason to complain about this shoot-out review.

With all due respect, when your ā€œjobā€ is to review firearms and you want to present yourself as honest and fair in a space where dishonesty is rampant, you have a responsibility to not do those things. If you disagree, fine, but ā€œjust because his subscribers like itā€ doesn’t make it ok. Does he have a right to make money, sure, but that’s like saying politicians have a right to make money in their profession as well - even if it’s through insider trading or tax fraud. I mean, hey, if the voters don’t say anything then it’s fine, right?

One other thing I’ve noticed is that most reviewers will reach out and address accusations of bias or be clear and upfront about sponsorships and the like - he also doesn’t do either of those. Says a lot.

There’s plenty of fair and knowledgeable firearm information out there. Watch who you choose - but it’s probably better to be skeptical going in.

Apples and oranges, he is only elected via his followers via their choice to follow him. Zero opportunity to change their lives in any manner whatsoever.

Hard disagree. A following is a following regardless of context, a ā€œprofessional reviewerā€ should have an obligation to not be bought or have inherent biases, and yes he does have the opportunity to change things through influence.

Other guys who have been proven shills (sootch00 and iraqveteran888 as two immediate examples) provide zero positivity to the gun community by being bought.

He has no opportunity to vote to raise or lower the taxes associated with anything he shills. Hard disagree as well.

He can directly hurt companies or influence people to spend money in ways they shouldn’t all with a biased or purchased opinion. That’s a very big deal and it’s why a lot of the 2A community will rally against guys when it comes out that money is changing hands quietly.

Compare this to someone like James Reeves, for example - who openly admits his biases and feelings toward certain things, but also comes straight out and says he is not and will never be bought. The polar opposite of someone like Outlaw who says he is honest but most likely is not.

Again - this is all conjecture on my part but based on things I have noticed over time with his (and others’) many videos. Feel free to disagree.

My issue is with the political reference… One is criminal behavior and the other is not. I’m more of a ā€œBuyer Bewareā€ kinda guy.
