I am not in the “modify your receiver permanently” camp.
I am just debating grinding down one of my spare PDQ bolt catch.
It won’t clear the upper receiver of the JAKL. It is a thick boy. The bolt catch that PSA provides has a paddle that is like 1/3 the size the thickness of a AR-15 bolt catch.
Me too. For an AR pistol thou. Hard to just start cutting and grinding on a serialized lower lol.

If PSA was making Jakl specific PDQ like bolt catches, it would only make sense for them to release an ambi compatible jakl specific lower receiver.
Phase 5 bolt release is a good Ambi option if your ok with it crossing through the trigger guard.

Being left handed I run the Phase 5 ambi bolt catch on all of my ARs. I love them. It makes reloading quicker and easier for me. I don’t care for the other bolt catch ambi designs.
I do not understand why people continue to claim these things are “ambidextrous” when they literally interfere with 99% of all ambidextrous mag releases. It’s a terrible solution to a terrible design in the factory bolt release of the AR-15. I will NEVER understand why not a single manufacturer who has invested in making their own lower design has not moved away from this BS.
All aftermarket bolt catches will have to be permanently modified to work with a jakl. The phase 5 will not work as it comes in its packaging.
The phase 5 bolt V3 bolt release does work on the Jakl as it eliminates the thinner paddle issue. I have 2 Jakl’s with this set up. They are a direct fit.

Well, they claim that their ambidextrous bolt releases because……they are. -less than an inch from the mag release without rolling the rifle over. In the end, it’s just a preference. I agree it’s depressing the industry hasn’t adapted to better accommodate us lefties but much like the 1911/2011 platform, you learn to live with it.
I’m going to try the JAKL on an Unbranded AR ambi lower when I get back from deployment and those lowers come back in stock again.

I get an ambi mag release from CDNN. Lowest profile I’ve seen. Check them out.

I need to settle a bet with a buddy. I think that the JAKL’s will never be on sale. He thinks that they may discount them for the 4th of July sale this year. Which seems more realistic?
Inflation says this is probably the lowest we will ever see them for the time being. Besides, they sell really well at this price point.
