Historic Weapons - The .45 ACP Liberator

Share:

The history of firearms is tied to the history of civilization. From American pioneers conquering the West to WW1 and WW2, firearms have played a pivotal role.

When you look at the FP45 Liberator pistol, it is the embodiment of the very the sentiments of personal freedom and God-given rights that America's Founding Fathers made sure the Constitution protected.

The Liberator was manufactured by General Motors for the US Government which hoped to deliver them to occupied territory during World War II and turn subjects of the oppressive and despotic Nazi regime into armed freedom fighters. The gun included an instruction manual inside the box in which it was delivered. The .45ACP pistol could store ten rounds in its grip but could only fire one round at a time.

In this short video Palmetto State Armory Founder Jamin McCallum explains why the Liberator .45ACP is his favorite gun of all time.

The Liberator was manufactured by General Motors and dropped into occupied territory during World War II to help the people on the ground fight back against the Nazis.

Jamin and Kris, I just thought I would add to your Liberator story. I worked 34.5 years in the factory where they manufactured one million Liberators in 3 months. This was Guide Div. of Gen. Motors in Anderson, In. The butt actually held 10 rounds. There are two books published about them, fairly accurate.

Gerald - thank you for the additional information! I corrected the article to reflect that the Liberator holds ten rounds in its grip. Appreciate the correction.

Here's a fun fact, GM making these guns makes for another stage auto makers were battling on. While GM made and supplied these guns to insurgents that otherwise could of ended up dead. Henry Ford along with several other companies such as DuPont and Bristol-Meyers were funneling money through Wall Street directly into the hands of Hitler himself. I include this link so that you may see for yourself that I'm not just talking out both sides of my neck. Besides I always encourage those that read my comments and replies not to beLIEve what I say, but research what I say. http://www.markswatson.com/article-IG-Farben-investigation-1945.pdf
