Unlike traditional 300 Blackout barrels with slower twist rates like 1:7 or 1:8, Faxon has accelerated the twist rate to 1:5. This faster twist rate enhances projectile stabilization and improves energy transfer to the target, maximizing effectiveness. The Gunner profile utilized in these barrels is a blend of two highly regarded profiles, the Govt/SOCOM and Pencil profiles. This unique combination merges the durability and rigidity of the Govt/SOCOM profile with the lightweight and maneuverable characteristics of the Pencil profile. The Gunner profile is designed to enhance balance, reduce shooter fatigue and facilitate prolonged shooting sessions whether for training, hunting or competitive shooting. Manufactured entirely in-house at Faxon's facility in greater Cincinnati, Ohio, these barrels undergo a rigorous production process to ensure uncompromising quality. They are machined from stress-relieved 416-R stainless steel, a material known for its exceptional strength and corrosion resistance. The barrels feature 5R rifling, a hybrid rifling pattern that reduces bullet deformation and fouling, enhancing both accuracy and ease of cleaning. Each barrel is equipped with an NP3 (nickel teflon) barrel extension, which provides superior dry lubricity, corrosion resistance and improves the fit between the barrel extension and the receiver for enhanced accuracy. Before leaving the factory, every barrel undergoes magnetic particle inspection (MPI) to detect any potential flaws or imperfections that could impact performance or safety. To further ensure accuracy and reliability, Faxon barrels are finished with a nitride treatment, which hardens the surface and improves durability against wear and corrosion. They are crowned with an 11 degree target crown, a design known for its ability to promote even gas distribution and enhance precision. Throughout the manufacturing process, each barrel is subjected to rigorous testing and inspection at multiple stages to maintain consistent quality and performance standards. They are individually checked for headspace using precision, custom-hardened PTG gauges, ensuring proper fit and reliable function.
